Moe, strength and conditioning coach and hybrid athlete

Ten years, four sports,
one method

I'm Moe. I coach on the floor at Third Space, one of London's most exclusive private gyms, and online through Train With Moe. I race on my own programming: sub-70 in my first Hyrox in the Pro division, an ATHX World Championship qualification racing Pro, and two Ironman 70.3 finishes, with years of physique and jiu jitsu before that. So the problem my clients bring me is one I've already solved for myself: how do you get seriously strong at one thing without falling apart at everything else?

That's what the method is: strength and cardio built in the same week, programmed so they stop fighting each other. The sports science degree matters less than what it taught me to ignore. Most of what gets posted online is a trend with a study bolted on afterwards.

  • Sub-70 Hyrox Pro Debut
  • ATHX Worlds Qualifier
  • 2× Ironman 70.3

Every exercise is sorted into one of three classes by its joint cost.

  1. 1

Free weights Heavy, never past two reps in reserve.

  2. 2

Supported and single-leg Close to failure.

  3. 3

Machines Closest to failure, where it costs the joints least.

As joint cost falls, volume and effort rise. That is Cost-Based Training.

The method is ours, born from the joint-by-joint approach used in elite strength and conditioning and built from current research on volume and effort.

Questions.
Answered by Moe.

How much equipment do I need?

Whatever you've got. I've written programmes for people with a full commercial setup and for people with two dumbbells and a doorway pull-up bar. Tell me what you can access and I'll build around it.

What's the difference between 1:1 coaching and the app programmes?

1:1 is fully custom. I screen you first: your goals, how much the rest of your life is asking of you, a movement screen, and your back history if you have one. Then I build every block for you, with direct access to me and regular check-ins. The app programmes are continuous programming pre-built for a goal, and you run them at your own pace. Same method behind both. One has me in it.

How often does my 1:1 programme change?

When your progress says it should. I'm not going to change it on a schedule for the sake of it, and I'm not going to leave you on something that's stopped working.

Can I train remotely?

Yes. Everything runs through the app. Every online client trains remotely and I've never needed anyone in the room.

What if I miss a session?

Log it and move on. If you're 1:1, I'll reshuffle the week. One missed session isn't a problem. Four is a conversation.

How do I cancel?

App programmes: a couple of taps in the app, and you simply aren't charged again when your next payment would have been due. 1:1 coaching is different. There's no minimum term, but it ends with one full month's written notice. You can give that notice whenever you like: your notice month is the next full billing month that starts after you tell me, it's billed as normal, and coaching ends at the end of it. Because the notice month is the one that starts after you tell me, the soonest coaching can end that way is the end of your second month. The 30-day money-back guarantee is the exception: claim it inside your first 30 days and coaching ends there with your first month refunded, so there is no notice month to serve.

Show up. Do the work.
Make it stick.
